In todays interiors there are no set rules you should follow. Try to imagine your lifestyle, the furnishing of your room, and of course practicality. If you are struggling with a colour scheme focus on an object that will be part of the scheme - a throw, carpet or ornament - pinch colours from that object and juggle them around. Use as much or as little colour as you feel comfortable with. Add warmth with reds, oranges and yellows. Cool colours, like blues, greens and whites can be relaxing and clean. Earth tones, greens and browns, are restful. Soft, neutral colours can complement the colours in your carpet, wallpaper or furniture. Solid colours or prints draw attention to the window. If the window is interesting architecturally, you may want to emphasize that through careful colour selection. Work towards harmony, and a complementary colour selection. |

Now let's think about the light you require from your window. Is it in your bedroom where curtains need to dim out the light as well as adding privacy, or would you prefer to block out the light completely, for childrens bedrooms for example, with blackout linings? Is it a window that is not overlooked, and so doesn't need thick curtains, just sheers or organza perhaps, to frame the window and to filter the light through.
Sheers and laces filter light without blocking it and don't disturb your view. Unlined, natural or white cottons or blends are translucent and soften the light. Woven fabrics and lined curtains block out more of the light. Achieve the lighting effect you want by selecting the appropriate fabrics. |

All of our curtains are available with a choice of Linings which will suit every home.
Lined curtains offer several benefits that can justify the extra expense. First of all, they tend to block out more light than unlined curtains when closed. They also make your curtains last longer without fading, and offer more heat insulation. Finally, because the lining is usually natural or white in colour, the view from the street can be made consistent from window to window, even though inside, different rooms have different colors. |
